Design Smoke is an online show searching out innovators in the worlds of Design, Culture and Invention. Interviewing everyone from authors, fire starters, designers, photographers, window dressers and exploring a broad cross-section of engaging individuals through relaxed conversations.

The Bohemian: Andy Sturdevant

Andy Sturdevant, described as "one of the most charmingly quirky fellows we know; a man filled to the brim with oddball knowledge..." (Secrets of the City) and a "cultural polymath" (Walker Art Center's Off Center) whose "desire to understand Minnesota culture is an obsession" (The Onion Decider), is a writer, artist and curator based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He has written criticism, essays and feature-length articles on topics as diverse as installation art, architectural history, alternative gallery spaces, popular design, Minnesota culture, politics and food for various Twin Cities-based media outlets, including The Rake, Art Review and Preview!, MNArtists, Heavy Table and Secrets of the City. He is co-creator and host of Salon Saloon, a monthly lecture and performance series that brings together local creatives to talk about their work, and a performer/writer in the Electric Arc Radio Show, a live performance troupe that specializes in literary-musical tragicomedy. He is also currently working on a book about the history of The Soap Factory, the Twin Cities' premiere contemporary art gallery, after curating their 20th anniversary retrospective last year. Andy holds a BFA in studio art from the University of Louisville.
