“This was surprisingly difficult—The RollerGirls posters, the Walker’s Frida Kahlo catalog, the All Seasons Wild Bird Store packaging—there are many fine projects in this year’s show.
My final choice is the Fair Game identity system for Public Radio International. It has wit, sophistication, adaptability and sarcasm—all in just two colors. Few business paper series can successfully communicate the attitude of a client with such clarity using this relatively Spartan approach. The image of the Statue of Liberty dangling from a paddle is reason enough to compel me to want to listen to the program. With the existing set of visual ingredients, I can easily see how the identity could be extended into numerous future applications while maintaining a cohesive look with the original components, making this identity smart, flexible and cost-effective.”
