Steph -- Submitting your portfolio is just if you're applying for the scholarships. Unfortunately, the deadline for scholarship applications has now passed. But, be sure to BRING your portfolio this weekend -- you'll need it for the Saturday-afternoon portfolio reviews!

If you are not entering to win one of the many scholarships, should you still summit your portfolio or is that just to be awarded scholarship money?

Brittany -- please contact Jenn Western, AIGA Minnesota's Executive Director: office@minnesota.aiga.org 612-339-6904

I misspelled 'Hennepin' in my previous comment. My apologies.

For parking I'd recommend the Target center ramp at 9th street and Hawthorne Ave (which is what 1st Ave turns into after the Target Center. Otherwise there are two pretty big surface lots at Hennipen and 10th. Both of these options are only a block away from Solera.

Hello, I accidentally registed myself twice (once as an additional guest). How can I get the extra $90 I paid back? Who should I contact? Thanks!

I would just like to re-ask Amber's question for you didn't fully answer it. What is the parking situation there? I'd like to know what to expect before getting there.

Posted by: Darin on April 19, 2009

Hi Amber - there isn't a dress code, per se. I've seen everything from suits to shorts (for both reviewers and attendees). My advise: dress to impress. Be the best representation of yourself and where you *want* to fit into the design community. Consider comfortable shoes and weather for Friday's studio tours (we have buses, but there is some walking involved).

Hi Nick - our reviewers mostly have design and art direction backgrounds. Copy and messaging are obviously critical aspects of good design, and I would say that most of the reviewers could offer advice on polishing your copywriting portfolio, but the focus of the event really is on design.

What is the dress code? What is the parking situation?

Posted by: Amber Szerpicki on April 11, 2009

Hi, I have a similar question to that of Megan. Are copywriters welcome at this event? I've been disappointed in the past at portfolio reviews with claims that I'd be able to see people with at least copywriting backgrounds, only to be shuffled around to designers. I've never been to an AIGA function review before, so I'm ready to have a positive experience, but like Megan asks: Is it worth my while, as a writer, to come? Thanks, Nick Rudie

Posted by: Nick on April 10, 2009

Hey Megan, I don't believe we have any reviewers, judges or panelists from the Chicago area this year, but the event is still a great opportunity to get feedback on your book and learn more about the current job market. Paul, Portfolio 1-on-1 co-chair

Hi, I'm a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota and an even more recent resident of the Chicago area. I'm wondering if I should come back to the Twin Cities for Portfolio 1-on-1, seeing as I now live in Chicago. Are there any Chicago firms, designers, agencies, etc. that will be attending and would be able to see my work, give advice and exchange cards? I'm mostly interested in the networking opportunities, seeing as I'm 3 months into looking for a job. So, to be blunt, is it worth my while to return?
